Access Control Systems, What Are They?
Posted May 29th, 2011 by adminMany people have heard of access control systems, but few people know what they are or how they work. Simply, an access control system allows the user to control who enters a particular building. In a way, an access control system is rather like having a key. However, carrying around a large bunch of keys for every lock in a building can be fiddly and unlocking every door by hand may be time consuming. There are also other problems with using a simple key. A key or a bunch of keys to a building can easily be lost or stolen. This can incur large costs if locks have to then be replaced or if a large amount of new keys have to be cut and given to key holders. Consider also that keys can be easily copied; leaving any building that relies on keys open to further security risks.
It is unfortunately true that there are some unscrupulous individuals around today and that all businesses, whether they be large or small have assets that they need to protect. Some people find that office blocks or buildings that are used for commercial purposes are worthy of stealing from, with many electrical items and equipment adding up to a small fortune. This can be devastating for any business that finds it is victim to a robbery. It is also important these days to protect staff and give them peace of mind whilst they are at work. With the common practice for doors to be left open all day whilst people are working, many working environments are unsafe and many staff may be left feeling uncomfortable or vulnerable to attack. However, with an electronic keyless access system an attack or a robbery to the building would be near on impossible and staff can be left feeling safe and protected and any business owner can have peace of mind knowing that property is safe.
Access control systems are a safer and easier way of allowing people into a building, and keeping out people who do not have a right to be within the building. A small token is given to each member of staff who works within the building. This small token allows a person access through the controlled doors. Once the doors are closed, they will automatically lock and will only reopen when a small token is used to grant access through that door. There are so many advantages to keyless access. If a token is lost or is stolen, it is easily barred from the system, meaning that even if it did fall into the hands of an unscrupulous individual it would still not grant access into the building. The electronic access control system can also control the staff within a building and which parts of a building they may be able to enter and at what times they may be able to enter the building. With a keyless access system in place, any business and its staff are secure and protected!
