Do you remember that simple circle railway track that you had when you were a small child, well the hobby of model toy trains has grown up a little, that old oval of track with the basic small train that just went round and round is now a full scale reproduction of your favorite train route.

There are also numerous accessories that go with the the model train set to make the experience much more realistic, you can get almost as many accessories as there are real things o see from the window of your train.

Some of the most popular are the station, treas, passengers, cows and buildings, each has its own place and everyone has there own favorite but some of the accessories you might like to consider getting may include.

Lighting

As in the movies the lighting can set the mood for your layout, you can give the appearance of a hot summers day, an overcast winter just before the snow or a night scene where the trains and countryside are lit by the full moon overhead. Choosing the right lighting can set your layout way ahead of your friends sets and make you the envy of everyone who sees it.

Carriages

The extra carriages you add to your set can give it a whole new feel, you can change from passenger carts to industrial or post, there are even sets that allow you to move cattle around the tracks, this combined with the scale model cattle or sheep looks amazing.

Station

Where all good adventures start, you can get generic stations that do not show the individual characteristics of the more detailed bespoke stations,.

Landscape

The landscape is a character of its own when you are on a train, it changes from suburb to city to country side or coastline in a single journey and all this can be created to make the layout resemble the true journey.

People

The different types of people you can get is a sub category of its own, just imagine every profession that you might see from the window of your train carriage or from the platform as you wait for the train to pull into the station and this gives you an idea of the verity of people you can add to your layout.
