Periodontal Disease Treatments
Posted June 29th, 2011 by adminCan you be sure you’ve got gum disease? Precisely what is it? Periodontal gum disease is mostly a condition of the gums and teeth whereby circumstances have allowed germs to eat away at teeth enamel and gum lines. There are two stages of periodontal disease:
Gingivitis: the beginning process of periodontal gum disease. The infection may be present without one’s awareness of it; and Periodontitis - this is advanced periodontal disease wherein damage may already be done to teeth, gums and bone structure.
If the source of the problem, bacteria, is not subdued, then the destruction will intensify. Toxins are produced by bacteria. These toxins will corrode your teeth and bones and gum tissue. This is why receding gums are associated with periodontal disease. How do you know if you have an overgrowth of bacteria in the mouth?
Symptoms of Periodontal Disease: Chronic bad breath; dentures that don’t fit; red and puffy gums; receding gum line; bleeding gums; and wiggly teeth. Symptoms vary from person to person.
If you have any of these gum disease signs you must take action.
Why do I have to take action?
If you do not take action, then these symptoms will only become worse, perhaps requiring painful and expensive surgery. Many require dentures after loosing their teeth. If they had take action earlier it may not have been required. Like they say, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” It is never too late to act now. Periodontal disease has been shown to complicate several serious medical conditions. . Some people never realize that their dental health has a directly link to their over health. For those who see the connection, they wish they knew earlier. Many take their dental health seriously only after they have personally encountered such serious issues.
