Size of Bonsai Container

We don’t know how big of a container we need to acquire for our bonsai plants. The size of bonsai pots is rarelyusually not a significant issue but only when we start to consider repotting our bonsai plants. Nevertheless, the size of pots is an important factor that has weighty effect on the health and aesthetic of our trees.}
Our bonsai trees need containers that are large enough for its roots to breathe and grow healthy. There need to be enough space for the root system of the bonsai tree to draw water and nutrients from the potting mix. More moist and food are readily available for our trees if larger the handmade bonsai pot that hold more soil are used. So, here is a basic guideline: The larger the pot, the longer our tree can go between watering. It is often preferred to use a somewhat larger bonsai container when the weather is overly hot or dry.
Yet, it is not always a good idea to use a somewhat bigger bonsai container for our bonsai tree. For example, bonsai pots too huge will make our bonsai trees look small and not as mighty and impressive in the bonsai display. In any case, bonsai art is the art of mimicking the Mother Nature by growing bonsai trees in small containers.
So what are the basic advices for bonsai pot size?
When we have a bonsai tree that is taller than its width, the length of the container have to be around 2/3 of the tree’s height. If the bonsai plant has branch spread that is wider than its height, the length of the bonsai pot have to be around two-thirds of the width of the tree’s branch spread. Additionally, the depth of the pot have to be around the diameter of the tree’s trunk at its base.
No bonsai tree should be kept in the same pot forever. We can repot our bonsai tree to a new bonsai pot. Indeed, we need to repot our trees in a regular basis to avoid the bonsai plant from rootbounding.For healthy growth, we have to always keep close attention to our bonsai trees.
